Gatlinburg Trip Part 2 – Dollywood

Dollywood is a theme park that Dolly Parton puts her stamp of approval on, in Pidgin Forge, TN.  It’s a beautiful park that’s very relaxing and has several great roller coasters.  Izzy road her first real coaster there and it was also her first time to go upside down.  She has the thrill ride bug now!

Again, all of these images are from my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4).

Robert F. Thomas Chapel - "Items found throughout the chapel have a unique history of their own. The windows were first used in the Nancy Academy, the first secondary school in Sevier County. They were donated by D.D. Butler, a Sevier County farmer and businessman. The doors are from the old Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and originally made by the church’s trustees around 1890. The chapel’s bell was first used in Sevier County’s Williamsburg Academy School; the pews are from the former Sevier County Courthouse."

Gatlinburg Trip part 1

We’ve been looking forward to this trip for several months and the time finally came to get to TN!  We met my brother’s family there and rented a 3 story cabin.  The cabin was great!  I didn’t take too many pictures of it – I should have got more!  We took all of our dogs and they loved the view from the patio.  We spent a lot of time on the patio, when were were at the cabin.  It was very relaxing.   There’s rumor of a bear, Calvin, that visits the cabin.  We never saw Calvin, but you better believe I was on the look out!

The last night we were there we carved some pumpkins!  Can you tell which one was Izzy’s?

All of these images are from my Galaxy S4, I did take some DSLR pics, but not many.

Part 2 coming soon – Dollywood!

Surprisingly, the colors were more plentiful in the foothills (both north and south of Gatlinburg), but we did have some color to enjoy while on the porch.

Halloween Month is here!!!!

October is one of my most favorite months of the year!  My wife has done a wonderful job decorating the house.  We’ve added a few new things to our never ending Halloween decorations this year.  First is a lamp that Jen’s cousin gave to her – it’s really great!  We’ve also got a few new things from Yankee Candle from their “Boney Bunch” series. Unfortunately, for the rest of the family, all of the M&Ms are gone from the dish.  I’ll have to get a few pictures of our new things and post them here.

For now – I have a picture of a little ink/watercolor artwork I did of a Jack-o-lantern.

Izzy’s 11th Birthday

Izzy turned 11 yesterday!  She decided she wanted to have a friend stay the weekend and we go out to putt-putt and play arcade games.  We did those things and I failed to get pictures of any of it.  I did, however, get pictures of her opening her gifts up from her Grammie and Pops!

She also got a new bike, easel, watercolor set, paint brushes, a trip to a cattle farm (which sounds like a lot of fun!), and several other smaller things.

Izzy's Grammie shipped her a package for her birthday. She loves her tape!

Izzy has been wanting new head phones for a while now (her other ones decided to stop working). Now she can listen to her music, videos, and games! Oh yeah, and they're noise cancelling so she won't be able to hear her pesky parents. HAHA!

Oh yeah, you’re still here!

I got an email to renew my domain forwarding, which I plan to do.  I figured if I’m going to keep this page, then I need to start uploading again.  We’ll see how this goes!  I haven’t picked up the camera in a long time, which is sad.  We do have a trip to Gatlinburg, TN planned for the fall – I expect to take a lot of photos there.  In the mean time I have been drawing again (remember I posted a few images a couple of years ago).

I picked up the Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colour Sketchers' Pocket Box, a water brush, and a Tikky Graphic pen to draw with. These go along with my pencils and kneaded eraser.

Senna

The Buxton Blog

I never met Ayrton Senna. I never even saw him drive in the flesh. And so I’m afraid that this article will give you no amazing new insight into him as a person or as a racing driver on the 20th anniversary of his passing. But May 1st 1994 changed my life forever, and would come to influence every day of my life that followed.

In 1994 I was a 13 year old chorister at Worcester Cathedral. As such, Sundays were always busy; Eucharist in the morning, home for Sunday lunch, then back to the Cathedral for Evensong. I sung so many times and for so many years in that magnificent place of worship that, over 20 years later, it has all pretty much merged into one. Except for that one Mayday.

I remember leaving the house to go and sing Evensong, wondering whether my hero was alive or dead…
